      Hi all,
I am Rama Rao, aged 64 years. Would like to share my experience on oral cancer.

Two years back I was diagonised by Apollo Head & Neck dept for buccal mucosa of my left cheek. By the time of diagonisis it had spread to my left side lymph nodes. I was operated Dr.Umanath Nayak by end August 2018. He and his team has successfully operated and removed the cancerous portions. Was in hospital for a couple of weeks during which Dr.Umanath regularly visited me and checked my progress. After a month I was treated by Dr.Vijayanand Reddy with radiation to the effected areas. There were a couple of scans which showed clearance of any cancerous cells. I was periodically checked by both doctors and given proper medicenes and advise. I had undergone a 4 to 6 months physiotherapy at Apollo on advise from Dr.Umanath. Now I am able to use my left arm which got affected during operation. I do regular exercises. All this I owe to Dr.Umanath who is very supportive. He is a thorough professional, practical, simple and honest. He is quite knowledgeable and I felt safe in his hands.

Thank you Mr Rama Rao for sharing your experience. Stiffness of the arm and shoulder is a common sequel that can happen when affected lymph nodes are removed from the neck. It is due to the stretching of nerves which supply the muscles of the shoulder. Generally the stiffness and muscle strength improve with physiotherapy.

Thanks Doctor. Hope moderate exercise and time will also ease the stiffness. Earlier I had too stiff a shoulder, now better.

This is a good platform for patients and their family members to share views and get support for their queries and seek clarifications. Thanks much to Dr. Umanath sir for coming up with this option to connect with related individuals.

His expertise in treating patients, his care and excellent monitoring throughout the treatment is commendable.

July 2006 my husband was diagnosed with oral cancer
We went & met Dr Nayak of Apollo hospital
      Dr Nayak was very cooperative
He explained the problem very nicely& recommended surgery.
Both of us got the confidence & within a week the surgery was done
Post surgery Dr Nayak called me & explained that all is well
We were advised Radiation for a few weeks. Radiation was done under Dr Vijaya Anand Reddy,
Physiotherapy was also done at Apollo
Within six months life was back to normal
Dr Nayak has always been there for support from the beginning till today
Dr Nayak ‘ s support has gone a long way for my husband to be normal .
      Thank you doctor Nayak
